Sashiko Play, 42" x 55"
Sashiko is a type of traditional Japanese embroidery or stitching used for the decorative or functional reinforcement of cloth or clothing. Traditionally this style is sewn with white thread on blue indigo-dyed or shibori fabric. Shar Taira teaches sashiko and shibori, and some of the best pieces from her classes are in this quilt, along with some of her personal favorites. Beautiful blues and gold colors are prominent on the front of the quilt while the back has a fabric with Japanese pottery. The finished quilt was custom quilted by Sharon Kerlagon. This quilt is a beautiful and unique work of art that will look beautiful in any home.
